Big Game. Big Minds. 🧠🏈
Chestermere Boxing Club is proud to be part of THE BIG GAME! An inspiring and meaningful initiative brought to you by the Mindful Men Association to raise awareness and support for men’s mental health.
This isn’t just a game — it’s a movement.
Join us on Sunday, February 8, 2026 at 3:30 PM at National on 10th Avenue in Calgary for an afternoon where community, compassion, and care take center stage. Children are welcome, and all are invited to come together, cheer, and support an incredibly important cause that touches so many lives.
Why This Matters: Mental Strength Is Real Strength
Our very own Flora Baccari has a deeply personal connection to this cause. On June 2, 2023, she lost her younger brother to suicide, a heartbreaking moment that changed her life and that of her family. Flora’s story is a powerful reminder that mental health struggles can affect anyone, and open conversation and support can be life-changing.
This event is a chance to honor that loss and turn it into something hopeful and a moment to give back, to check in with the people we care about, and to normalize talking about mental wellness.
The Mental Health Reality in Canada
Mental health and suicide prevention are not abstract issues — they are urgent community concerns here in Canada.
Every year, an estimated 4,000–4,500 Canadians die by suicide, equivalent to about 12 lives lost every day.
Men are disproportionately affected: close to 75% of suicide deaths in Canada are male.
While women are more likely to attempt suicide, men are three times more likely to die by suicide — underscoring the need to engage men in mental health conversations.
These sobering statistics show why events like THE BIG GAME are more than fundraisers — they are opportunities to break stigma, foster connection, and promote early support.

Tips for Supporting Mental Health
While catching the big game with friends, take a moment to check in with the men in your life.
Here are a few simple but powerful actions you can take:
Talk openly: Let someone know you care. Start conversations about mental health without judgment.
Listen actively: Sometimes the best support is simply being present and listening.
Encourage help-seeking: Remind loved ones that seeking support is a strength, not a weakness.
As the Canadian Mental Health Commission highlights, addressing stigma and encouraging men to talk openly about their struggles makes a real difference in saving lives.
THE BIG GAME is more than a community event — it’s a step toward deeper understanding and connection. It’s a reminder that strength is not just about what we can endure physically, but how we show up for one another emotionally.
Come out, show your support, and help us make a difference. 🧠💙MindfulMen #MentalHealthMatters #BigGameDay #CalgaryEvents #FamilyFriendly #CheckInWithYourPeople #BreakTheStigma #SupportMentalHealth
